The season of sipping on warm tea is here again, and we’re excited to have some fresh pumpkin pie with cinnamon. Although it’s the time of the year when it gets chilly outside and we slowly notice how nature changes, autumn is one of the best seasons because it’s so bright and full of different colours that make us feel melancholic.

But it would be a waste only to stay inside and be cosy when there are so many beautiful things to see outside. The leaves are turning brown, red and yellow, and the air is crisp, so it’s the perfect time to walk in nature.

And what’s the perfect location for such activity other than New England, where numerous secret spots will have you impressed by the pops of colour?

Some Great Places To See While Visiting London During The Autumn Season

Boston

Although autumn foliage looks better, it’s got a special feeling when mixed with urban settings. Seeing Boston this season is best because the golden colours contrast the buildings and all the technological advancements.

Travelling around the end of October is best to catch the view. Some simply mesmerizing spots include the Back Bay Fens and neighbourhoods such as Beacon Hill. And if you find accommodation near the Hub or other areas where there’s plenty of foliage around, your experience will be one of a kind.

If it’s your first time going to Boston, there’s an airport close to the city where you can book Logan Airport parking tickets ahead if you also wish to rent a car.

Vermont

If you read The Secret History by Donna Tartt, you may be familiar with the Vermont state where strange things occur among the college group studying Greek. The New England state has something apart from others, adding to the book’s mystery, which was praised for being excellent writing and giving off the vibe of autumn and dark academia.

So, if you want to experience travelling to such a place, Vermont is known for its impressive autumn views in different locations, such as Stowe. You can walk around town or hike on Mount Mansfield, where a resort provides tours.

The best time to visit Vermont is from the end of September to the beginning of October, after which the snowboarding season starts. Accommodation and parking for your car are affordable, which you can book through Parkos before your trip.

Massachusetts

Autumn in Massachusetts is among the best things to experience, especially around the mountain region. Hence, visiting the Berkshires is mandatory, which is the place for some of the most outstanding activities for this season.

For instance, you can participate in the Mount Greylock summit to hike, drive through the Mohawk Trail or check out the Field Farm in Williamstown. Other old and impressive places to check out include Deerfield, Concord and Ipswich.

Don’t forget to visit Salem, the city known for witch trials, which is an exciting time in history that you may want to learn more about. Hence, the city’s renowned popularity will add to the magic of the autumn scenery.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire is by far the most beautiful area of New England during autumn. The White Mountain National Forest has striking foliage in early October that you’ll be able to see best through the Kancamagus Highway that ends at the Maine border.

There’s a particular spot on the highway called the Hancock Overlook, where all photographers stop and stare in awe at the beauty of nature. You can see the turning point and the foliage best if you use a drone, but check all the requirements before flying one.

If you want to hike a little bit, the Sabbaday Falls is the perfect spot for an adventure. Still, be prepared with proper clothing and footwear because the stairway might be sloppy. Other than that, numerous hike trials are available around New Hampshire that allow you to explore nature.

Maine

Maine is famous for its national parks and coastlines, so you can imagine what the scenery is like during this season. Plenty of lighthouses lay in the coastal areas, each with an exciting history. The seaside towns also add to the mystery of the place, and we promise you that mornings are foggy.

However, many national parks make Maine a gem for watching nature perish. For instance, the Acadia National Park is one of the most visited in the US since it’s located along the Atlantic coastline.

Let’s not forget about the Appalachian scenic trail, Roosevelt Campobello International Park and Saint Croix Island. All these wonderful places are worth visiting during autumn, but the weather tends to be chilly, so pack some warm clothes.

Forks

Although Forks isn’t in New England, we couldn’t finish this list without the most famous place for autumn viewing. Forks is a lesser-known city in the state of Washington, but what makes it worth seeing is the story behind it. The city is the principal filming place of the Twilight series, which is considered to be the perfect bingeing series for autumn.

The cloudy and rainy town has a unique vibe that few can replicate, though seeing it in real life is quite different since the blue hue in the movie is only an add-on. Still, if you travel there, you’ll be able to get some merch and have a tour of the Twilight stops and things used in the series.

Since it’s a stormy town, have some quality boots and coats because you must hike through the Olympic National Park. Don’t forget to go to the Tree Root Cave, where a cave’s walls suspend an impressive old tree.

New England is one of the best states to go when you’re in the mood for some autumn scenery, cold weather and falling leaves. Hence, the locations above are the crème de la crème when it comes to chilly scenery. In addition, we included Forks because it simply fits the autumn narrative.
